Getting an Auto Insurance Rate Quote

Wondering what it takes to get a quote for auto insurance? You’ve come to the right place. Check out our auto insurance rate quote FAQs below:

How do I get an Auto quote online?

Start here by entering your ZIP code into the orange box. Then hit “Go” to begin! The screen will take you to an online form. Once you fill in the details, we can provide a quote tailored to your needs. If you like what you see, you can even purchase the insurance online!

When you fill out the form, it’s helpful to have the following on hand:

  • Your current auto insurance policy (if you have one)
  • A driver's license number for each person you plan to list on your policy
  • A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for each car to be listed on the policy, which can be found on your car title and registration
  • The lienholder's name and address if the vehicle is leased or financed
  • A major credit or debit card for when you are ready to buy (This step is optional.)

Not at all! We want you to explore your options. The online insurance quote is just a tool we use to help demonstrate how affordable and comprehensive our auto insurance coverage could be for you. If you are interested in what National General Insurance has to offer, we offer the option for you to purchase the insurance you see right away. There’s no obligation to buy!
In fact, nothing about our quote process is a "must." You don’t even need to complete the form all at once. You can just save your results and come back later if you want.
Feel free to try it out here, and see just how quick and easy our quote process is!

Two factors universally affect your monthly auto insurance rates: your deductible and your coverage limit. Learn how to get a better monthly rate, and see whether the choice is worth it to you:

  • Choosing higher deductibles – Your deductible refers to the amount you agree to pay out-of-pocket before the insurance company takes over. So let’s say that crashing into a guardrail costs $650 in damages to your car. If you set your deductible at $400, then you would pay $400 and your insurance would cover the remaining $250. So overall, choosing a higher deductible will lower your monthly insurance rate; however, it may mean paying for more in damages.
  • Choosing lower coverage limits – Your coverage limit is the maximum amount the insurance company will pay in a given situation. Anything exceeding this cap would be your financial responsibility. You choose the maximum amount. The higher maximum you choose, the higher your monthly rate would be. So choosing a lower coverage limit will lower your monthly rate. Nevertheless, it’s important to consider whether you would have the ability to pay for damages that exceed the coverage limit. If you don’t, it might be better to choose a higher limit.
As much as we all want the lowest possible monthly rate, don’t skimp on the safety, security, and protection that your family needs. Look for the right value that will fit your coverage needs and your pocketbook.
